Afros Swiss Spotlight - Tabea R. Weber

Our Afro Swiss series is an extension of our ongoing commitment to celebrating and amplifying vital representation for our multi-hyphenate children.

Tabea R. Weber is a lawyer, Afro-feminist, and intercultural mediator who founded Happy Hair Day in Basel. With her Afro-Swiss background and Transatlantic roots, Tabea's personal experiences fuel her passion for educating and empowering families with children who have afro-textured curly hair in Switzerland.

Through Happy Hair Day, Tabea and her team have developed a comprehensive program that not only educates parents on hair care but also fosters positive self-image and cultural awareness. Her goal is to empower the next generation of Afro-descent children while providing parents with the knowledge and confidence to care for their child's unique hair type.

Beyond Happy Hair Day, Tabea is an active member of Verein Afro-Basel, supporting ventures of Afro-descent individuals in Switzerland. She also serves as Co-President of Verein Yara Glover, promoting the pioneering work of Yayra Glover's organic cocoa company in Ghana and fostering Swiss networking opportunities.

Tabea's commitment to cultural awareness and community building extends further. She is a public speaker, writer, and researcher, sharing her reflections on her multi-hyphenate Ghanaian, American, Swiss, and German heritage, arts and culture, and ecological commerce through her publications.

Tabea's work is truly inspiring, showcasing her dedication to education, empowerment, and cultural awareness. We applaud her passion and commitment, as she strives to make a positive impact in the lives of Afro-descent children and their families.
