First Quarter Review - 2022

Afro Swiss Families began as a search for community for other Afro-European families living and raising children in Switzerland.

Our driving motives rooted in connecting, celebrating exploring, learning, playing and reflecting with other parents and their children around what it means to be an Afro-European family, raising multi-ethnic and multi-cultural children in the heart of Europe.

Our first quarter began with the building up and launching of www.afroswissfamilies.com along with setting up of our instagram account. The intention being to use these two platforms for scheduling and sharing our family friendly Meet & Play’s, along with books, toys, thoughts of interest. This is an ongoing project, the website and instagram will be further developed as we establish ourselves - so watch this space!

In addition to the platforms launch, we hosted the inaugural Meet & Play’s: Come Say Hello at the Winterthur Family Centre, Books and Brunch at the Coalmine Cafe and Zürich Christmas Market Visit. As with all beginnings, the events were small and intimate with some takeaways for future event planning and a joy in time spent amongst kindred spirits.

Admittedly it has been challenging, though also a learning curve and we are so grateful for the connections we have made so far online and offline. We look forward to 2023 and all that it will bring.
