Join us at the Frauen Streik in Zurich on June 14, 2025*. Be part of this powerful movement with Afro Swiss Families as we participate in the Frauen* Streik, a historic event rooted in the ongoing fight for gender equality in Switzerland. The first Frauen* Streik took place on June 14, 1991, marking the 10th anniversary of the constitutional article on gender equality. Over 500,000 women and allies took to the streets, demanding equal pay, better working conditions, and greater recognition of unpaid care work.
The movement gained renewed momentum with the 2019 Frauen* Streik, where an estimated half a million participants protested across the country, highlighting persistent inequalities, including pay gaps, workplace discrimination, and lack of representation in leadership roles. Today, the Frauen* Streik continues as a platform for intersectional activism, addressing the diverse experiences and challenges faced by women, including Afro-European and marginalized communities.
Let’s stand together in solidarity for equality and change!
