Afro Swiss Families Receives Support From "Ici. Here Together." Of Migros Commitment
Afro Swiss Families is thrilled to announce a significant development for our community dedicated to supporting Afro-European children in Switzerland. Starting in November 2023 and running through December 2024, Afro Swiss Families will be supported by "ici. here together," an initiative under Migros Commitment, marking a crucial step for the community in empowering the Afro-European community in Switzerland.
Founded in 2022, Afro Swiss Families' core mission is to create an inclusive space where Afro-European families can come together to connect, celebrate, explore, and support one another. At the heart of their mission is the unification of parents and caregivers to raise confident and empowered Afro-European children in Switzerland. The association currently serves as a dedicated community of parents and caregivers in Zurich and surrounding cantons.
Afro Swiss Families' initiatives include "Meet & Play" events, workshops, and a variety of resources available on their website. These gatherings provide essential spaces for Afro-European parents, caregivers, and children residing in Switzerland to interact, learn, and grow together. Their goal is to create environments where the children's identities and experiences are affirmed and validated through the sharing of their collective knowledge. Their ultimate aim is to harness the collective knowledge, experiences, and resources of parents, caregivers, and allies to uplift and empower the community's children.
The "ici. here together" program actively promotes cultural diversity and social cohesion in Switzerland. It offers financial support and professional guidance to local and regional projects that bring together individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
In 2023, "ici. here together" received an impressive 274 project funding applications and selected 83 projects, awarding 730,000 Swiss francs along with professional advice. These commitments are dedicated to creating inclusive environments for diverse communities in Switzerland.
